NEW YORK – The new Broadway musical “Redwood,” currently captivating audiences at the Nederlander Theatre with its star, Tony Award winner Idina Menzel, has officially announced the release schedule for its original Broadway cast recording.
The highly anticipated album, featuring the acclaimed performances from the production, will be rolled out in phases, beginning with a digital release, followed by physical formats.
Release Schedule Confirmed
The digital version of the “Redwood” original Broadway cast recording is slated for release on Monday, May 13. Following the digital debut, the physical CD will become available approximately one month later, with a release date set for Thursday, June 13. Fans and collectors eager for the vinyl edition will see its release later in the summer, on Thursday, July 25.
Debut Track and Music Video Unveiled
Coinciding with the announcement of the album’s release dates, the production has unveiled the debut track from the recording. The song, titled “In the Leaves,”” is now available across major digital platforms. This initial release prominently features the vocals of Idina Menzel, who stars in the musical as Jesse. A companion music video for “In the Leaves”” has also been released, offering audiences a visual complement to the first publicly available audio from the cast album.
Featured Performers and Creative Team
The original Broadway cast recording showcases the talents of the principal performers in the production. Alongside Idina Menzel, the album features performances from Tony Award nominee De’Adre Aziza, Michael Park, Zachary Noah Piser, and Khaila Wilcoxon. These artists bring to life the musical vision conceived for the stage.
While not featured on the principal recording, the show’s company also includes Jessica Phillips as the standby for the role of Jesse, portrayed by Menzel. Understudies for the production are Daniel Brackett, Bradley Dean, and Veronica Otim.
The musical “Redwood”” was written and directed by Tony Award nominee Tina Landau. The score features music composed by Kate Diaz, with lyrics penned by both Diaz and Landau. The production was originally conceived by Tina Landau and Idina Menzel, who also provided additional contributions to the work.

The creation of the original Broadway cast recording involved a team of experienced production professionals. The album was produced by Neal Avron and Kate Diaz. Neal Avron also served as the mixing engineer for the recording. The task of recording the performances was undertaken by Derik Lee at two distinct locations: Berklee at PowerStationNYC and Renaissance Recording NY. The orchestrations and arrangements heard on the album were created by Kate Diaz, who also contributed music and lyrics to the production.
