Meredith Music Festival Reveals Diverse 2025 Lineup, Upholding Decades of Independent Music and Community Spirit

The Meredith Music Festival, a cornerstone of Australia’s independent music scene, has officially unveiled the highly anticipated lineup for its 33rd edition. Set to enchant attendees from December 5-7, 2025, the iconic event will once again transform the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre, nestled on Wadawurrung Country just west of Melbourne, into a vibrant hub of eclectic sounds and communal celebration. This year’s announcement reaffirms the festival’s reputation for curating a globally diverse roster alongside a strong emphasis on homegrown talent.

Global Headliners and Eclectic Mixes

Leading the charge for the 2025 music spectacular are US-based art-rock veterans TV On The Radio and the electrifying Japanese girl group Atarashii Gakko!. TV On The Radio, known for their influential sound that emerged from Brooklyn’s underground scene in the 2000s, makes a return to Australia for the first time in a decade, following recent residencies and frontman Tunde Adebimpe’s solo endeavors. Atarashii Gakko! promises hyperkinetic performances, blending J-pop with elements of acidcore and Butoh theatre, offering a truly unique experience.

The international contingent is further bolstered by indie pop musician Perfume Genius, Syrian dabke-techno pioneer Omar Souleyman, innovative UK drill rapper Pa Salieu, Daptone ensemble Thee Sacred Souls, London scuzzy alt-rock revivalists Bar Italia, and electronic artists HAAi and RP Boo. The festival also showcases Canadian alt-pop songwriter Saya Gray, Detroit pop singer Sam Austins, and producer Jack J.

Celebrating Australian Talent

True to its roots, Meredith champions a rich ensemble of Australian music artists. The lineup features Melbourne’s emerging indie-folk outfit Folk Bitch Trio, known for their raw, unfiltered approach and recent debut album “Now Would Be a Good Time,” released in July 2025. Alt-rockers Radio Free Alice, celebrated for their high-energy guitar rock, and psychedelic jazz fusion group Mildlife, who released their third studio album “Chorus” in March 2024, are also prominent. Other notable Australian acts include Kaytetye DJ and producer RONA., ARIA Hall Of Famer Colin Hay, Yolngu musician Drifting Clouds, Dr Sure’s Unusual Practice, the Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir, and the City Of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band.

The Unique Meredith Experience and Its Legacy

Since its inception as a small end-of-year party for around 200 people on the Nolan family farm in 1991, Meredith has grown into one of Australia’s most beloved and longest-running music festivals, yet it retains its intimate and independent spirit. It remains a self-funded, non-commercial event with zero corporate sponsors, with ticket sales directly supporting local organizations in the Golden Plains district. This ethos is underscored by its famous “no dickhead policy,” fostering a respectful and inclusive atmosphere for all attendees.

The Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre itself is a key part of the experience. This permanent, purpose-built site offers free-range camping and parking, a BYO policy (no glass), and a range of unique attractions. Festival-goers can enjoy The Meredith Gift, a traditional nude running race, explore the Pink Flamingo Bar and Eric’s Terrace, catch a film at the Ecoplex Cinema, or take in the views from the Meredith Eye Ferris wheel. The natural amphitheatre, crowned by giant pine trees planted in the 1950s, offers excellent views and acoustics from anywhere on the spacious grounds.

Navigating Ticket Sales

Securing tickets to this highly sought-after event primarily happens through a ballot system, reflecting the festival’s commitment to equitable access. The first ballot for existing subscribers has already closed. The second ballot round, open to new subscribers and those not initially drawn, closes at 10:33 PM AEST on Tuesday, August 19. For those who miss out on the ballot, a limited general release of tickets will be available online from 11 AM AEST on Wednesday, August 27.

A maximum of three tickets can be purchased per person during the online sale. All purchased tickets, issued as wristbands, will be sent out during the first week of November. For any hopeful attendees who don’t secure tickets through the initial rounds, Aunty’s Ticket Resale Service provides a safe and official platform for secondary purchases. The festival is an all-ages event, though anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian if tickets are purchased through online sales.

As the 33rd edition of the Meredith Music Festival approaches, the news of its diverse and compelling lineup ensures another unforgettable weekend of music, community, and unique traditions in rural Victoria.
